There is a little-known fact about cats. Most cats do not have the same number of digits on their front and back paws. But why do cats have different numbers of digits on their front and back paws? Cats have a gene mutation that causes this. This gene mutation, called polydactyly, causes cats to have different numbers of digits on their front and back paws. Cats can even have six or even seven toes because of the same mutation. Another name for this disease is the Hewingway Mutation. This name, of course, comes from the famous writer Ernest Hemingway. The famous author is known for sharing his home with many cats with six fingers. This mutation in cats also allows them to keep their balance.
